Amenities at our Bed and Breakfast Inn

At Oak Hall, you can enjoy king beds, Smart TVs, ensuite baths, high-speed WiFi, quality snacks, beverages, and gourmet breakfast with room delivery.

We go beyond your expectations!

Our amenities go WAY above and beyond a comfortable bed and free breakfast!

Each of our guest rooms offer Stearns & Foster or Beautyrest King size platform beds for a restful night’s sleep. Each room has it’s own individually controlled thermostat for a quiet, cool stay. Convenient extras include in room mini-fridges, coffee makers, ensuite bath, sitting areas, smart tvs, and high speed wifi.

More amenities are inside the walls and behind the scenes! We put in a lot of work to ensure a comfortable experience for our guests! We upgraded the plumbing and mechanical systems during our restoration of the property to ensure a comfortable and high quality experience for our guests. Yep – Water pressure matters! Each room has it’s own individually controlled thermostat with mini-split AC system throughout.

Our property also has tankless hot water heaters fueling our showers and baths so guests never have to worry about running out of hot water. We also installed a whole house filtration system so every drop of water that you use in the Inn is filtered multiple times. Our upgraded plumbing system provides great water pressure and flow for our private baths and safe clean water for drinking and enjoyment.

Our guests are encouraged to enjoy all of the common areas, the expansive porches, the library, as well as snacks and beverages in the Butler’s Pantry adjacent to the dining room.

Complementary breakfast is served in the ladies parlor each morning between 8 and 9:30 AM for those wanting to dine with us. We offer breakfast delivery service, birthday cupcake surprises, rose petal service, charcuterie boards for the room or the porch for those wanting a quiet private experience.

About Oak Hall

Originally constructed in 1910, this Mission Revival Style Mansion boasts 32 original stained glass windows, is lined with oak trim, and plaster walls. The original light fixtures, hardware, and art nouveau fencing are standout features of the home. The home was originally built by Fannie Willis Johnson and Junius Ward Johnson, as their second home. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to the philanthropic contributions made to Vicksburg by Mrs. Johnson. One of the most unique uses of the property was the fact that it served as a Widow’s home. After Junius passed away in 1918, Fannie sold their plantation for over $1m and moved to Vicksburg. She invited other widow’s to live with her, and officially turned the home into a Widow’s home. When Fannie passed in 1931, she donated the home to the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi and they ran the widow’s home until 1966. To the locals, it is affectionately known as “The Old Ladies Home”.

The home now hosts guests from all over the world as a Bed and Breakfast. Elizabeth and Don really wanted to offer a contemporary and comfortable alternative to the traditional Bed and Breakfast experience. With over 8000 square feet of renovated space, 6 guests suites, a Carriage House, and newly installed pool, there is plenty of room to spread out while also enjoying the intimacy and charm of the home. The B&B is decorated with contemporary clean furnishings, as well as antiques and local artwork. The guest rooms are spacious, open, and clean and all have upscale mattresses, black out shades, quality bedding, and boutique hotel amenities. No dolls or doilies will be found at this Bed and Breakfast!

Your Hosts, Elizabeth, Don and Slim Jim!

Don and Elizabeth love to travel. Don is a private pilot and Elizabeth is an Executive Recruiter. Together they have traveled extensively and understand the importance of a comfortable bed, privacy, and great amenities while you are away from home. They pride themselves on quality and comfort and hope to provide a memorable experience for each and every guest who stays in Oak Hall. They both appreciate historic architecture more than anything and when they discovered Vicksburg and this home, it was love at first site! After spending a few years restoring the home, they knew they had to share it with others. Their pup Slim Jim is the host with the most! He is super friendly and loves people. He will often be found lounging in the yard or on the porch, but his favorite thing to do by far, is greet the guests!
